Ornate vase with typical Dutch canal houses. 19 cm Usually the houses are high, narrow and deep because the load was raised due to the width of the façade. Due to the risk of flooding, the front door is sometimes on the ground floor and the building is accessible via a platform. Canal houses usually had a basement and a suit attic, where trading stock could be stored. In the attic a hoisting installation or a special beam was attached to lift goods.
