This special PLAYMOBIL set is based on Van Gogh's passion for writing and offers families around the world a playful way to learn more about the artist's life and work.

In Vincent's time, smartphones and the internet did not yet exist. Letters were the most important way to stay in touch with people who were far away. Vincent wrote letters with passion and enjoyed sharing his ideas and feelings in them.

903 letters from Vincent have been preserved. Most of them were addressed to his brother Theo, his best friend and loyal support. In some letters, Vincent included small sketches to show what he was working on at the time. Theo kept his brother's letters with extreme care. Vincent himself was less careful; because he traveled extensively, he threw away countless letters or even burned them.

Fun fact: the PLAYMOBIL sketchbook features a page with two sketches; one drawing is upside down, exactly like in Vincent's original sketchbook.
